About me
Born and raised between Nigeria and Austria, I grew up within a big circle of extended family and friends, where telling stories was an essential aspect of our everyday lives. I fell in love with children's books at an early age on account of my mother being a teacher and soon after, aspired to be a writer myself.
With a bit over 17 and a stretch to 18 years, I stood on my first poetry slam stage and later became the two-time reigning Austrian U20 first-runner up in 2017 and 2018.
My poems tell of the experiences of being a black Christian woman in a predominantly white environment. They are performed in English, German and "D-english" with musical elements here and there in my
mother-tongue Igbo.

For every word written, a piece of empowerment,

"Precious Chiebonam Nnebedum proves that
she is a force to be reckoned with."
- Haymon Publishing House
"Nnebedum's poetry collection is visual and powerful in the reappraisal of a personal-political past and the construction of the present. In melodic-observational words, 'birthmarks' explores forms of love, family, remembering and growing up as a Black woman in this world."
